And now these words from our sponsers...

Television: A medium - so called because it is neither rare nor well done. - Ernie Kovacs

Hiatus - No longer!

When work and life don't allow you much time, you get what's called a hiatus.  Now to be more endearing with my time.

Now some thoughts...I'm rather disappointed in the summer launches thus far.  Pretty Little Liars was a cute premiere.

The Nine Lives of Chloe King

The Nine Lives of Chloe King

My Grade - 4 - May watch it online, DVR, occasionally live

Target Audience Grade - 5 - I'm starting to think I can DVR it

Overall Take - The show has a lot of potential with character development and plot lines. It starts with a dramatic event and then got in to character development. To much time trying to display powers and not enough time displaying characters. Put me back a good 14 years (which means I'd be 14), I'd maybe stick around to watch the season.

Synapse - High School girl feels different, discovers suddenly that she has cat like powers. Only has a couple of select friends and a cool-calm-collected mother. The high school heart throb has secrets as well. Chloe is discovering what she is...

Appeal - Definitely geared towards early teen audiences. Has an attractive cast, most are trying to establish their roles within TV. Lines were rehashed words said from many other shows and movies, with slight tweaks. No depth to the words, so it was a bit cheesy for my taste. Science fiction and high school awkwardness can never go wrong with those aspects.

Characters - Had difficulty understanding why they developed the character as more of a 'grown up' teenager instead of someone still going through growing pains. Back and forth between Chloe and her friends to start was a bit forced and didn't have a natural flow. It progressed as the show went on. Chloe and her mother had the most chemistry, that relationship humanized Chloe more then anything else we saw. Felt a lot of the characters were a bit choppy with the lines, as if they were speaking them but not feeling them.

Music - Definitely fit to the teen role, the club music felt awkward to say the least. Much to be desired for my lyrical taste. It's a bit more of a flow of soft tones...

Pilots are typically one of your worst episodes as you have to figure what works and doesn't and adjust. The show has potential...

For any of those that read, my thoughts on taking it to the TV...Breaking down a show one episode at a time.

The system...

My plan/project here is to rate shows by how likely it would be for me and hypothetically the target audience would be.  I can only empathize so much, but I will do my best to be objective to who the show is geared to...

Overall grades are as follows -

10 - This is like Firefly serious...
9 - You had me at the pilot
8 - I DVRed & watched it live
7 - 2 AM and I'm watching the DVD Season
6 - Live viewing, Check
5 - I'm starting to think I can DVR it
4 - May watch it online, DVR, occasionally live
3 - Watch it with an alternate channel
2 - I kinda liked that one scene...then the rest of the show happened
1 - Kill it please, this is brutal

Now that you had your appetizer, on to the main course!

The introduction...Boring as it maybe

For most all of our lives we've always gravitated towards certain TV shows and certain mental peripherals.  I always saw my life similar to a show of Dream On (damn you HBO), a variety of clips and lines from shows that guide me to my mental picture.

I'm deciding at 28 years of life that perhaps my graphics and my pictures aren't exclusive to me.  We're all a TV audience in this world, so why deny it anymore.  How many of us don't immediately go back to a line from a show that we saw for humor?  An inspirational moment in a movie for a bit of pick me up.

So I introduce myself as Evan, I'm a guy that has a very rich imagination and a guy that seems to like watching TV.  I'm creating this blog to try to address my desire to keep my TV filled with non-crappy shows.  I've seen far to many shows cancelled and replaced with fluff.  I have a hard time buying into reality TV, because it's everyday people in a fake world.  However, I intend to review and judge shows for the world that they do-do not entice me in to.  Heck perhaps I'll throw in a suggestion of how to get the viewer back in.

For shows that have been on for a bit, I will get caught up and judge you for the here and now for your last show.  I'll try to take any suggestions for any that decide to follow my blog... Who knows if this turns in to my own internal ramblings or maybe I help one person find a show worth watching.  Either way this is my pledge and my narrative.
